July 12th
National Simplicity Day

National Simplicity Day, celebrated annually on Henry David Thoreau's birthday, is the perfect time to simplify your life. Henry David Thoreau, born on July 12, 1817, was an author, philosopher, naturalist, abolitionist, historian, tax resister, surveyor, development critic, and pioneering transcendentalist. Primarily remembered for his book Walden, a reflection on simple living in natural surroundings, Thoreau asserted that, "as you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler."
