National Sandwich Day

Legend has it that on November 3, 1762, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, was deep into a poker game and did not want to leave the table for dinner. He decided to ask a servant to prepare a piece of meat stuffed between two slices of bread so he would not smear food on his cards.
