National Read a Road Map Day

National Read a Road Map Day encourages us to improve our map reading skills. Reading a roadmap can be a little tricky if you're not familiar with it, but with some practice, it can become easier. Here are some general steps you can follow to read a roadmap: - Understand the legend: The legend of the map is usually located on the bottom or top corner of the map. This explains the symbols and colors used on the map. You should familiarize yourself with the symbols and colors used on the map so that you can easily read it. - Locate your position: Find your location on the map by matching landmarks, street names, or other features that you can see around you with those on the map. - Orient the map: Make sure you have the map oriented in the correct direction, usually by matching the direction you're facing to the direction on the map. - Follow the roads: Once you have located your position and oriented the map, trace the roads or highways that you want to follow on the map. Look for the names of the roads, the distances, and any landmarks or features along the way. - Plan your route: Plan your route using the information you gathered from the map, such as the distance between your starting point and your destination, and the turns you need to make along the way. - Check your progress: Periodically check your progress on the map to make sure you're staying on the right track and that you haven't missed any turns or landmarks.
