National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed annually on December 7 to honor and remember the 2,403 citizens of the United States who were killed in the surprise attack by the Japanese on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941. The attack led to the United States' entry into World War II. The day is also an opportunity to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the military personnel who fought and died during the war.
