National Oreo Cookie Day

Image

An Oreo is a popular sandwich cookie that is made up of two chocolate wafers with a sweet cream filling in the middle. The wafers are embossed with a distinctive design featuring the Nabisco logo and a pattern of dots and dashes. Oreos were first introduced by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) in 1912 and have since become one of the best-selling cookie brands in the world. They are available in a variety of flavors, including original, double-stuffed, mint, and peanut butter. In addition to being enjoyed on their own, Oreos are often used in recipes for desserts such as Oreo cheesecake, Oreo truffles, and Oreo milkshakes. The first Oreo was sold on March 6, 1912 to a grocer in Hoboken, New Jersey.
