National One Cent Day

National One Cent Day is a day dedicated to the history and origins of the one cent coin, colloquially known as the penny. The first U.S. penny was designed by Benjamin Franklin and minted in 1787. The first Lincoln penny was issued in 1909, 100 years after Abraham Lincoln's birth.
