May 30th
National Heat Awareness Day

National Heat Awareness Day is observed annually on the last Friday in May. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of extreme heat and encouraging people to take precautions to stay safe and healthy during hot weather. Heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, can be serious and even deadly, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those with certain medical conditions. National Heat Awareness Day reminds people to stay hydrated, stay cool, and take breaks from the heat as needed. It also encourages communities to create heat emergency plans and to check on vulnerable neighbors during hot weather.
