June 16th
National Fudge Day

Fudge is a sweet and creamy confection made from sugar, butter, and milk or cream. It is typically flavored with chocolate, although other flavors such as vanilla, peanut butter, and maple are also popular. To make fudge, sugar, butter, and milk or cream are heated together and stirred constantly until the mixture thickens and reaches a soft-ball stage. This is when a small amount of the mixture dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that can be easily flattened. Once the mixture has reached the desired consistency, it is removed from heat and flavorings such as chocolate or vanilla are added. The mixture is then beaten vigorously until it becomes thick and creamy, before being poured into a pan and left to set. Fudge can be enjoyed in many different ways, such as plain or topped with nuts, sprinkles, or other candies. It can be served at room temperature, chilled, or even melted and used as a topping for ice cream or other desserts. Fudge is a popular treat during the holidays, and is often given as a gift or served at parties and gatherings.
