June 26th

National Bomb Pop Day

Image

The last Thursday of June is reserved for enjoying Bomb Pops. Invented in 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, the Bomb Pop is a type of frozen treat, also known as a rocket pop, made from flavored ice on a stick. It is usually made with three layers of different colors and flavors, typically red (cherry), white (lemon-lime), and blue (raspberry). The Bomb Pop was first introduced in the United States in the 1950s and has become a popular summertime treat. The Bomb Pop is made by pouring each layer of flavored ice into a mold and freezing it until solid. The stick is then added to the mold and the finished product is packaged for sale. The three layers of ice are designed to melt at different rates, so that as you eat the treat, you get a combination of flavors as each layer melts. Bomb Pops are commonly sold from ice cream trucks, at convenience stores, and at other places where frozen treats are sold. They are enjoyed by people of all ages, especially during the hot summer months.
