January 9th
National Apricot Day

An apricot is a fruit that is similar in appearance to a peach, but smaller and with a smooth skin that can range in color from yellow to orange. The flesh of an apricot is sweet and juicy, and has a slightly tart flavor. Apricots are commonly eaten fresh, but they can also be dried, canned, or made into jams and preserves. Apricots are native to the Middle East, but are now grown in many parts of the world, including the United States, Turkey, and Italy. They are a good source of fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C, and are also low in calories. Apricots can be enjoyed on their own as a snack, or used in a variety of recipes, such as pies, tarts, and salads. The dried form of apricots is often used in baking or as a snack, and is commonly referred to as "dried apricots."
