International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation

Female genital mutilation, comprising all procedures that involve altering or injuring the female genitalia for non-medical reasons, is recognized internationally as a violation of the human rights of girls and women. The United Nations General Assembly declared February 6 International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation to raise awareness and take concrete actions against female genital mutilations.
